Critics! I have them. You have them. Jesus had them and still do! When dealing with critics, I REMEMBER THE CROSS. People can’t say no more about me than what the Christ said about me. And even you. The Cross said that we all are sinners who deserve eternal punishment. So truthfully, what others say about you is less than what the Cross said about you. Jesus paid for our sins on the Cross and God delights in us because of Christ. When I think of how God loves me, I embrace it because it washes away what others say. Now, I am not talking about constructive criticism because I can deal with that all day long and I respect it. But I am talking about that negative and undeserving stuff! I am talking about those bad accusations that add no measure to my life. When you have a deep relationship with Christ, you will recognize unhealthy and healthy critics. Your relationship with Christ reflects the way you respond to insults and criticism. “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes” (Proverbs 26:4-5).
