I dropped out of the college of depending on people. My emotions literally failed. After God tugging on my heart, I enrolled in the college of depending on Him. My parents were my safety net for years and years not considering that my parents had lives too live, too. I allowed my emotions to fall victim to broken promises of others time after time again. I even possessed fear about stepping out of the world and being set apart for the Lord. God said enough was enough and told me to DEPEND ON HIM. It was scary at first but God reminded me that He has not given me the spirit of fear but the spirit of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). God’s Spirit of Power gives me strength to persevere when little hope can be found. God’s Spirit of Love enables me to avoid harmful emotions of anger and resentment in hard times. God’s Spirit of Love enables me to trust that He will sustain me in any situation. God’s Spirit of a Sound Mind enables me to have disciplined mind that doesn’t fall victim to false emotions that attempt to control me. When you live a life of faith, the devil will attempt to assault you mentally and emotionally. God has not given you the spirit of fear! Depend on God to see you through. Allow the Word of God to guard and defend your mind, safeguard your emotions, and shield you from the arrows of the enemy. In stressful situations, get alone with the Lord and give Him your concerns. Just as a branch depends on a vine, our dependence on God is the vital connection with Him to guarantee a fruitful life. Depending on God is not something we do in emergencies; it is the realization that we cannot trust even our next breath apart from His Will.
