God’s Love and Security

When my children were small, I often played a game on the bed with them where they would sit on the edge of the bed, fall back and I would catch them. When the game would be longer over with and I would be steps from the bed, they would still fall back. Why do you think they did this? Well, they KNEW that Mommy would catch them. Why? They KNEW Mommy loved them and Mommy’s love would protect them. They KNEW Mommy’s love was security. That love and security that came from me made them some brave children! God’s love and security should make us all brave children. He watches over us day and night.. We can run to Him at any time. His arms are like the 7-Eleven stores – they are always open! We must come to a place where we KNOW that God loves us and KNOW that there is security in His love for us.

Change

When it comes to change, make sure you are doing it for yourself. There is really no need to boast about it verbally or boast about it on social media. If change is something that you are truly pursuing, I doubt that social media will even get most of your time. The thing about change is that you should be doing it for yourself and not others. Architects have a set design that they follow in order to build homes and businesses. Without that design, things can go wrong. Well, in order for you to build positive change in your life, you should follow God’s design. It’s a design that is stable and strong. It won’t be blown down by the wind of people’s opinion. It’s a design that will shine brightly so there will be no need to even boast about it. If you need to make a change, don’t waste time saying you are about to do it and listing details every step of the way. Sometimes, God wants to deal with you one on one. Let Him Everybody don’t need to know what your plans are. Just as there are those who pray for your success, there are those who pray for your downfall.

Get Right or Get Left

Allow me to take you to Exodus 15:26 which says, “He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.'” God made a promise to the people of Israel that they would never suffer any diseases if they obeyed Him. But what did they do? Yep, they did not obey Him just as the world does today. Because of their rejection to God and the laws of His love, people suffer instead of prospering and living a healthy, abundant life. God doesn’t take pleasure in seeing any of His people suffer but it is all a part of His plan to teach us the necessity of obeying His law. God will allow diseases and other afflictions to affect people to the point of repentance. God is not destroying the world extensively; He is punishing the world in both love and measure so that we can turn from the wrong and go right. The coronavirus along with other plagues and/or diseases is only a small part of God’s Plan. The worst hasn’t taken place yet and we will be caught up in it if we don’t repent. Angelic spirits are already in position to perform the tasks that God has assigned them to do and it is all to prepare for the Great Tribulation, the Day of the Lord and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Let’s get RIGHT or get LEFT!!!

Give Them Jesus

I can remember my mom taking me to my kindergarten graduation. She took me to cheerleading dance events at high school. She took me to all of my honor banquets. She and my dad took me on trips out of the state, swimming at my favorite lake several times during the summer, and numerous family cookouts. More importantly, my mom ALWAYS took to me to church. Out of all the places I have gone, I am more grateful for my mom taking me to church. Now that I am older with children, I understand why. She allowed God’s Word to plant a seed inside of me at a young age. I rebelled for so many years. But because of the seed of God’s Word that was planted inside of me when I was young, I couldn’t stay away. God kept tugging on my heart in so many situations and experiences. I knew where my True Help came from. So like the prodigal son, I returned. Today, I am grateful for my mom always taking me to church when I was younger. I am grateful for those early morning Sunday School classes, Wednesday night bible studies, summer vacation bible schools, and every other church event that I attended. Psalm 23 was embedded in my spirit at a young age and now that I am older and understand it clearly – I am thankful that the Lord is My Shepherd. That seed that was planted in me has now grown into strength and beauty. Because the Lord is My Shepherd, I endured and persevered through so much. It is so important to plant the seed of God’s Word in your children when they are young. They may not understand it then, oh but later, they will! It’s good to give your children money and take them shopping. It’s good to make sure they are involved in every extracurricular activity and/or sporting events. It’s good to take them on vacations around the world. But it is FAR GREATER to take them to church! It is FAR GREATER to give them JESUS!

Why I Believe

I have encountered so many conversations where others tried to get me to abandon my faith in the Lord. It felt like these encounters came from the devil but it very well could be a test from God – a test to see if I will leave Him after all He has done. A test to see if I will stop trusting in Him and His Only Son that was sent to die on the cross for all of our sins. A test to see if I will really walk what I talk. Well, I believe in the Lord. I believe in His Son. I don’t believe me nor my ancestors came from a bowl of soup called lava. I believe that God created me. I believe in Him because of my relationship with Him. I believe in Him because through that relationship, I know His voice. I know my Master’s touch. I know His Comfort. Most of all..I know His love. I know that doing rightis right. Being kind is kind. Doing my best to lead my children to Him is right. Faith in Him is what keeps me going each day. Me come from lava? No! I am God’s Masterpiece!

Are You Going Hard for Jesus?

Many of us go hard for the things we want. That mate. That job so we can get money to get that house, car, clothes or shoes, to pay bills and to take that vacation. We go hard for our children and/or grandchildren. We go hard for everything that can disappear from our lives within a blink of an eye. But do we go hard for Jesus? I am not talking about going to church every Sunday and Bible Study every week. We can play the part when we are at church but outside of church, are you going hard for Jesus? Do our actions reflect Him? What about our speech? Do our words reflect Him? How are we treating people these days? Do we smile in their faces and take out a knife when they turn their backs? What about our children? Are we doing all that you can to lead them to Christ?

Take a moment and reflect on your life right now. Are you going hard for Jesus?

Pray for Fathers

I posted some encouragement on my Facebook page earlier for men and I would like to continue that encouragement. The Lord has a special calling for men to be strong, courageous leaders. They need continuous encouragement and godly wisdom. To the biological father, stepfather, spiritual father, soon-to-be father, mentor or the father who has fallen off the path of fatherhood – please know that there are women who are praying for you and who support you. And women, we need to refrain from putting our men down, even when we know they have done wrong because we, too, do things that are not right as mothers. Let’s pray for our men more. God gave men the responsibility of being a father who is a loving, compassionate and honorable father. Just as motherhood, fatherhood is no easy task and requires a lot of hard work, dedication and love. So take time out to pray for our men more, even the ones that society labels as “deadbeat.” Our children need positive guidance like never before from our men. Women need the support of fathers in raising children. Let’s turn badmouthing and bitterness towards our men into PRAYER. Let’s pray that Christ be beside our men, before our men, behind our men, within our men, beneath our men, above our men, on the right and left of our men, where our men lay, where our men sit, where our men rise, in the hearts of all who think of our men, in the mouths of all who speak of our men, in every eye that sees our men and in every ear that hears our men. “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him” (Proverbs 20:7).

Love

Valentine’s Day is approaching and sadly, many will practice love on that one day and the next day, they will be back to toxic ways. Some may read this and be like, “She is just saying this because she isn’t married.” Well the truth is I am not be married but I know that LOVE should be in action 365 days of the year, not just on February 14. I honestly don’t think one day of love can make up for 364 days of bitterness and hatefulness you have towards someone. It could be a spouse, a girlfriend/boyfriend, your children or just a friend. It really doesn’t matter who but it does matter if you are putting love in action everyday. Love can be a phone call, a text, a letter or card, a genuine pat on the back, a hug, a visit, etc. God is love. If you love God then loving others should be in your character. We have to love regardless of who, what when, where and why. 1 John 4:16 reminds us, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

Each Day

This world has its grumblers, complainers and its critics or haters. Make sure you wake up each day doing your best to not fall in one of those groups. Wake up each day thanking God and asking Him what He wants you to do for that day. Wake up each day choosing joy no matter what comes your way. Yes, it gets hard but practice makes it a habit – a good habit. That habit becomes a lifestyle – a healthy lifestyle. Choose your words with care. Our tongues have the power to bring about blessings or cursings upon our lives and the lives of others. If you woke up complaining, grumbling, depressed, etc., I have some great news for you – you still have have the opportunity to turn to joy right now. You have an opportunity to turn the knob of negativity to positivity. Will you do that right now?

Prayer

Some of us attempt to make prayer very difficult when it is just a conversation with the Lord. God doesn’t listen for words of eloquence but the voices of need. Prayer isn’t some religious exercise where you have to jump through hoops to get your prayer heard and answered. We don’t have to always get on our knees and close our eyes to pray. Prayer is an ongoing conversation between our hearts and the Heart of God. Prayer should be natural like breathing and never a last resort.
